Co-op with volunteers, 12.11.2025

On November 12, large and well-preserved sections of end-of-life fishing nets (extracted during recent workshops) were handed over to a volunteer group producing camouflage nets and anti-drone nets. The handover was accompanied by an in-depth discussion between representatives of KEST and volunteer group leaders on how the expertise of both sides can be combined. The exchange focused on strengthening defence preparedness while ensuring that end-of-life fishing gear is treated in line with circular economy principles through reuse, smart material selection and responsible handling.

For KEST, this discussion was a truly valuable experience, clearly demonstrating the added value that motivated volunteer initiatives bring to both defence and sustainability efforts. We sincerely honour the dedication and impact of the volunteers, wish them continued success in their important work, and look forward to practical collaboration opportunities soon.
