Seminar in Roja Explores Opportunities for Sustainable Coastal Development; 18.11.2025

On 14 November 2025, a seminar organised by the Kurzeme Business Club of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took place in Roja, focusing on the development potential of coastal areas and related business opportunities. The event brought together entrepreneurs, municipal representatives and non-governmental organisations to discuss how to support entrepreneurship and sustainable development along the Kurzeme coast.

Participants gained insights into the principles of coastal governance, sustainable spatial planning and potential cooperation models between businesses and municipalities. Anete Jansone, Project Manager at Kurzeme Planning Region, presented current coastal development trends and possible future scenarios based on regional and national planning documents. She also introduced the COREEL project, highlighting its role in strengthening research, cooperation and sustainable management of coastal cultural heritage in Kurzeme.

Discussions revealed strong interest among entrepreneurs in developing new services, improving infrastructure and strengthening cooperation with local authorities. At the same time, participants emphasised that coastal development must remain balanced, responsible and aligned with environmental protection and community interests.
